After almost two days of travel from Texas to Gallup, the “Young Neighbors in Action” came to do their annual mission service at Villa Guadalupe for the week of June 18th.
Half of the young people worked in the yard removing underbrush and the dry shrubs, while the other half painted the curbs, fire lane and the lines in the Parking Lot. Many signs were posted ahead of time to reroute cars and moving cars and trucks that usually are parked in our Parking lot. The Parking Lot was a very busy place, with signs and blockades to keep the spaces empty.
Even though the young people worked very hard outside, they especially enjoyed time with the Residents. Before and during the Resident’s dinner they would sit and talk with them.
The favorite day for all, the Residents and the young people the day we celebrated the “Monthly Birthday Party”, the young people not only helped to serve the Residents, but enjoyed dancing to the music during the party. And of course as usual the Resident’s enjoyed watching the young people.
