Going to St. Michael’s Mission (Ch’ihootso) in Arizona was like going “home” to many of our Residents who went to visit the senior center just a mile from the Franciscan Church “St. Michael” and down the road from “St. Michael’s School” where Mother Katharine Drexel built a school for the Navajo children.
Several Residents were from this area and met friends and relatives that they were so proud to introduce to the others. The ladies enjoyed looking at the quilting that was on display at the center.
The best part was the Navajo Tacos that were fresh from the skillet to the plate; even those who said they were not hungry enjoyed every bite
After lunch some wanted to go to the “flea market down the street. One of the Residents wanted to buy something, but didn’t have enough to buy what she wanted, yet the vendor gave it to her, since she looked like her mother!
All were smiles as they returned Home to Villa Guadalupe.
