The Southwest is noted for it’s “Hot Air Balloon Fiestas.” Albuquerque hosts a large one in October and Gallup has its in December, with people from all over the world coming to launch their balloons.
Several neighbors and Friends of Villa Guadalupe are “Balloonists,” and fly often.
One of our Neighbors recently bought a “New Toy,” a miniature hot-air balloon. The Residents enjoyed watching the balloon be filled with hot air; some even held it open to let the hot air in. Many viewed from the coffee shop and other windows to watch the balloon get bigger and bigger until it was able to fly. Others were up above to watch the balloon ascend.
This hot air balloon in fact was like a big kite with a rope to hold on to it. As a regular sized hot-aired balloon, when there is wind, it goes where the winds go.
You can say that watching this small balloon is just getting us all ready to see the big balloons that will be flying over our Home in about six weeks!
