One could say that the Three Kings came twice on our Epiphany Sunday. The First time was after our Resident’s breakfast, maybe 9 a.m. The Sisters came and gave gifts to the Residents that they did not expect. The gifts came from the University of New Mexico Students that had come last year for their clinical classes. After getting to know the Residents they all wanted to give gifts to our Residents. Our Residents were so happy with their gifts. One of our Residents received a clock that had a different bird call each hour, after studying it he said, “I’ve seen every bird that it on that clock, this is wonderful.” Others got slippers, earrings or bows for the hair. I think the happiest was a Resident that had a nice gift bag that had cookies and 7-up, he lite-up and said “Oh boy, that’s just what I wanted.”
A little more than an hour later we had “Three Kings” at Mass that presented the Christ Child with the gifts. All were so happy to see these “regal” Kings coming from Zuni and Navajo land! It just shows there are still many who seek the Lord as the Kings of years ago.
