It is hard to believe that Fr. Alfred Tachias (known by many as Fr. “T”) has been our chaplain for 25 years. He began his work with the Little Sisters on January 1, 1999. Prior to his assignment at Villa Guadalupe he was the rector of the cathedral, and knew all the challenges the Sisters had the first few years. During his time with us he has known four Mothers Provincial, many Mothers and Sisters. He had the pleasure of meeting our former Mother General who visited Gallup in 1992 (the assistant who traveled with her, Mother Celine, is our present Superior General).
Fr. Tachias is available for Confessions and regular Anointing of the Sick. One could not figure how many Residents he has “prayed to Heaven” or baptized in the Faith. Fr. T. has always been very generous about saying Masses for the Sisters at any time (the “Begging Sisters” who go to Albuquerque every Wednesday have a standing order for an early Mass at 6:30 AM).
His concern for the Sisters is very touching. This was especially true when the Sisters were involved in two traffic accidents, one of which resulted in the death of our superior at the time. Fr. “T” prays for the safety of the Sisters when we go to Albuquerque or anywhere else.
We thank you Fr. Tachias, for 25 years of loyalty, concern and much love!
