Although Alice Castillo’s 100th birthday was Wednesday, January 29th,the majority of Alice’s family live out of town, and many live outside of New Mexico, so it was decided that her celebration would be Saturday, February 1st.
Her big day began with the Beautician coming in early to set her hair. Later, Mass was in “Thanksgiving for her long life.” The birthday party for Alice was a fun family day. Many of Alice’s nieces and nephews, along with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren came for one purpose, to wish “Aunt Alice” a happy 100th birthday! Even though Alice never had children, all her nieces and nephews were considered “her” children. She very often took care of them as they grew up, but most of all she loved them, and they knew it!
So many of her family just wanted to have a picture of Alice with them, the flash of their cameras seems constant, especially when blowing out the candles. Yet, Alice enjoyed the little children the most and all they wanted was a kiss from “Aunt Alice!”
Many of her family also recalled that Alice’s Mother lived to be 102. May Alice follow in her mother’s footsteps to live a good, long life. “Feliz Cumpleaños Alice!”
