We brought the New Year in with such songs as “Get your Kicks on Route 66”. Since Gallup in on Route 66, and we have “honorable mention” in the song (each time Gallup was mentioned the crowd would toot their “New Yews Horns”). Jeanne Jugan would be very pleased, she who once said “Making the Elderly Happy is what counts”, and our Residents enjoyed themselves so much. Beginning with the a great spread of food, including such specialties of the Southwest as Rat tails (Jalapeño pepper with cheese and bacon) along with Root Beer Floats and homemade cream puffs.
One might say that the evening was too short, yet their joy was contagious with music and just being with friends! The evening ended with balloons falling upon us, and many had their pins ready to pop as many balloons as possible, and to make as much noise as possible. We pray that the New Year will be a good one.
