Here in Gallup, we have an Elementary School, Jefferson School, down the hill from us. For many years one of the teachers used to bring her class to visit the Residents every month. Since that teacher recently retired, a new teacher brought her class for the first time to visit the Residents.
The visiting class was “First Graders” who were very excited to come to Villa Guadalupe and visit our Residents. The walked up the hill, carrying the books that they planned to read to the Residents. The theme of their “readings” was “Thanksgiving.” All enjoyed the visit.
The Children read to the Residents and the Residents spoke to them about Thanksgiving and how necessary it is to be thankful for what we have.
I can see this is just a beginning of a great tradition of the sharing between generations. Thank you “First Graders” for sharing with our Elders!
