Many of our Residents here in Gallup are veterans. One of the most active among them is Sami “Strongbull” Daniels. Sami is a veteran of World War II. She is active in a group called “Veterans Helping Veterans” and is very well thought of by the group since she is one of the oldest members.
Usually Sami acts as an honor guard; which means that she carries the flag honoring the Army Air Corps (this later was known as the Air force) World War II Veterans. She attends many funerals, flag ceremonies, and special meetings. At funerals sometimes she helps with the folding of the flag. She also has tried to help other veterans to get the medals they have never received (there is a lot of paperwork).
It is beautiful to see someone so proud to be a veteran; she truly helps other veterans in many ways and has touched the hearts of many. Thank you Sami, for your service to our country and the love and concern you have shown for those who have served and died for our country.
