The New Year brought us a bit of a challenge, for some of the pipes in the kitchen after 25 years had worn out. The problems arose in December, but the work was stalled due to the many activities in December.
Yet the work needed to be done, so after the New Year we had to MOVE the kitchen so that the food would be able to continue to come to our tables. After much thought, it was decided to move the kitchen to the Sweet Shop, where the Residents usually enjoy their coffee socials and so many other get-togethers.
The racks with pots and pans were then moved up to the first floor, along with tables and other things to help make it easier for our kitchen staff.
Meanwhile, the plumbers dug and dug. The Residents commented for several days: “Did you hear the jackhammer downstairs? It was pretty loud!” Yet finally, after several days, the plumber found the pipes that had caused so much of the problem.
We thank the plumbers that came to our rescue, but we mainly thank our kitchen crew that continued to supply tasty meals, despite their inconvenient situation.
