Sabrina and Jessica are with us this summer. They are students from the University of Notre Dame who are taking a class — and their classroom is our Home in Gallup. It is a program on volunteering, during the summer they have reading to do and also a paper to write, yet we hope and pray that their experiences here we be written in their hearts.
They will do many things to help out, such as answer the phone, serve the Residents their meals, escort a blind man to his room… There are many things to do and many people to reach out a hand to. We commend Sabrina and Jessica for choosing this class that goes beyond the classroom and goes out to people — people who are old and frail, yet have so much to offer them. They just need an open ear and an open heart and they will have the finest class that they could ever take!
