By Samuel Mota-Martinez

The best way of describing my month-long stay with the Little Sisters of the Poor and Residents of Villa Guadalupe is “Blessed filled.” I learned much from the Sisters and the Residents.

In witnessing the lives of the Sisters, I learned the importance of prayer first and going out to love the Residents through work and service.

In witnessing the lives of the Residents, I learned how to receive love and care. The Residents showed me how to enjoy the simpler and quieter joys of life as well. They also showed me the importance of humility and humble acceptance of one’s physical or mental limitations. In asking for help, they gave me many opportunities to love and care for them.

I never really knew my grandparents (since they had passed away when I was very young), but the Lord gave me over 30 grandparents during my time at Villa Guadalupe! Grandparents whom I got to love and care for and were truly a priceless and life giving gift. Again, the best way to describe my time is one word: “Blessed-filled”.
