Thank you for your continued encouragement during our legal battle against the HHS Mandate. We are humbled by the support individuals and groups are showing for us and our case.
In advance of oral arguments on March 23, I wanted to make you aware of plans to increase public knowledge and support for our cause.
Some friends of ours, Women Speak for Themselves (WSFT), have been raising awareness of the importance of religious freedom since the HHS Mandate came down in 2011. They were particularly active in the Hobby Lobby case for religious liberty.
You may have seen their bright pink “Women For Religious Freedom” signs in a celebratory picture that circulated in major publications when it was announced that Hobby Lobby won. Their spokeswomen across the country are already re-framing the public conversation on the HHS mandate toward genuine well being for women and all those served by Religious Sisters.
Next week, WSFT will launch a Valentine’s Day campaign through their website, where individuals can write thank you notes to our Sisters. They are also asking supporters on social media to take a photo with a sign explaining why they stand with the Little Sisters. WSFT will upload the pictures through their Facebook account, which currently has 65,000+ followers.
WSFT also has plans for oral argument day. In addition to hosting a rally in front of the Supreme Court, they are organizing a nationwide peaceful witness so that all will be able to participate. The witness will take the form of a day of service at Little Sisters’ Homes across the country. After a brief talk and prayer, organizers and volunteers will collect donations and spend the day volunteering with the Little Sisters.
Please contact WSFT’s Communications Director, Kat Talalas at kat@chiaroscuroinstitute.org, if you have questions or are interested in participating in these efforts.
We are hopeful that you will help shed light on all of the good work that Religious Sisters do, and enhance public support for our witness to religious freedom.
Thank you so much and may God bless you with His mercy this Lent.
