The Little Sisters of the Poor have partnered with the University of New Mexico-Gallup as a clinical site for over 20 years. Nursing students care for the Residents as part of their first clinical experience in the nursing program. Students learn the importance of compassion and respect for the elderly as they begin to build their foundation of nursing practice. They have been with us for the past six weeks.
They noticed an empty coffee can siting at the feet of St. Joseph at the entrance to Home. The UNM-Gallup nursing program wanted to give something to the Home as a token of their appreciation for allowing the students to come here so they decided to give coffee since that was the current need. A Sister, with a camera, just happened to cross their path as they were entering the elevator to go down to the kitchen. The photo shows Sabrina Ezzell, UNM-G nursing instructor, and Tanisha King, UNM-G nursing student, bringing in the donation of coffee.
