My name is Marlena; I’m a team leader of Challenge, a girl’s Youth Group from Holy Child Parish in Tijeras, NM. As a service project and retreat, our group chose to visit the Little Sisters of the Poor in Gallup, NM to help them out and see what their community and daily life is like. The Hospitality we received upon our arrival and during the course of our three day visit was immeasurable. All of the Sisters were so very sweet, and they did all that they possibly could to make sure that we felt welcome. Villa Guadalupe is very unlike our Senior Care Facilities, for it is a family and truly a comfortable Home for the Residents. The girls made many friends here during the visit.
We came here to see if we could make a difference and touch lives only to have our lives touched as well.
We had a very fun time at Villa Guadalupe with the Little Sisters. The Little Sisters truly live out Pope John Paul II’s message of recognizing the dignity and value of every human life in any stage and also live out Christ’s message of cheerfully giving without measure. The Challenge girls of Holy Child
are so grateful for the time we were able to share with this community of love,
and we hope that we will be able to come back soon.
