“Veterans Helping Veterans” is a very active group in Gallup. Some of the members come on Monday to do activities with the Residents (Bingo, Horse Racing, and much more). Several of our Residents are very active, going to meeting and other functions.
Two of our Residents were each awarded a quilt for their service. They are: “Sami” Daniels, who served in World War II in the Air Corp (before the Air Force began), and Fr. Hugh O’Neil, who served both in the Army and the Navy.
The quilts were presented by both the “Veterans Helping Veterans” and the McKinley County Quilters Guild (Sami had been a long time members years ago). The quilts were beautifully crafted and in one corner there was an American Flag which said on the stripes: “Sincere best wishes are stitched into this quilt for your comfort. Thank You for your Service and Sacrifice. McKinley County Quilters.”
We are very proud of them both!
