February 3-7, 2014 is National Food Service Week through the country. Here at Villa Guadalupe
we honor those in our Food Service Department. And who are they? These are our cooks, our dish washers and our pantry aides. This department is perhaps the most important, next to the Nursing Department, and yet sometimes the most forgotten.
They cook our food for us three times a day and 365 days in the year, with a total of 1,095 meals.
This of course does not include the snacks in between, or the different activities such as the monthly birthday party and much more.
Our Residents made homemade cards to say “thank you” to our Food Service Department, while Sr. Josephine, our Sister in the Kitchen, baked a cake for them to share.
This month, we have chosen the “Employee of the Quarter” from this department. The name that
was chosen was Diane Jim, a “pantry aide” who we might add “grew up” in the pantry, since her
Mom worked as a pantry aide for many years. Diane knows what our Residents want before they ask and she is also very helpful in translating the menu to our Navajo Residents. We thank her for her many hidden kindnesses that she does for our dear Residents!
