Each year in Gallup, the Inter-Tribal Ceremonials are held in August. This includes the rodeo, many different tribes who sing their songs, dance their dances and enjoy being with so many different Native Americans. At this time the Navajo Nation have their competitions for the Queen of the Ceremonial (these are young women who know their culture, their language and wish to help their people, by getting a good education, so as to help their people in the future) and the many Princesses (these young ladies are from different schools throughout the Navajo Nation).
The last day of the Ceremonial is the parade in Gallup. The parade is always one of the favorite activities of the Ceremonials for our Residents. To see the different Tribes in their regalia, and as they pass by to coax them to dance for us. The many Princesses always enjoy coming over to the Elderly during the parade to say “hello” to our Residents.
